Showa MBW-E11 ride height, side stand and reservoir

Post by alexhumber »

Hello all,

Found a Showa MBW-E11 shock (CBR600F4 I think) and fitted it to my NC29. The bike rides a lot better (old shock was knackered and saggy). However, I have a couple of queries.

This is the same one as I have (not as mucky though!)

Now I have a very high ride height which makes my side stand unusable without a thick block of wood, although looking at the bike from the side and riding it, it looks and feels quite normal. Is this ride height/side stand issue a normal problem for this mod?

Also, the reservoir is on quite a short pipe, shorter than on other 600 shocks I have seen. I assume you cannot replace with a longer pipe as it is gas filled/pressurised - what do people do with placement of their reservoir? There seems to be just not quite enough space to put it anywhere convenient!

Thanks for your help!

I've tried various search queries but no relevant information that I could find, partly because the site won't let me scroll through the pages of results without a long time-out period for some reason.

there are two different lengths for the CBR600 one is near the same length as standard 400 shock and one slightly longer that's why you're having issues with side stand as for the placement I removed rear pegs and jubilee clipped reservoir to sub frame

The pipe is far too short to put it anywhere sensible like that, might have to have a rearrange underneath the petrol tank near the crotch area!

Rides a lot nicer though
