S1000RR shock mod chain droop
I have noticed that if my chain isn't quite tense enough it now drags on the lower frame rail.
I have the S1000RR shock and HRC link fitted which has raised the rear by quite a bit.
And surely by raising the rear you are effectively just pushing the swingarm down further hence lowering the chain run.
I do need a new chain and will be getting one before I next ride the bike (tight spot means adjusting is a pain in the arse and can't get it right, hence the drag).
Anyone else seem to have this problem/noticed this?

Where is the hub adjuster set? it might well be riding low due to that combined with a duff chain?

How long is the shock eye to eye? I have the hrc link and IIRC shock set to 315mm and have no issues

I do have the eccentric adjuster set at bottom, maybe I should have thought about that.....
I have no idea how long the shock is, I just know it's a bog stock 2012 s1000rr item.

Re: S1000RR shock mod chain droop
So I tried getting the eccentric adjuster to the top and it won't go.
As your turn it towards the top, the top of the rear brake caliper hits on the underneath of the swingarm.
This is because the bracket which holds the caliper is also pulled upwards with the rear axle.
The only way I can see round this is a longer bracket, which is annoying...

If the hub adjuster is only moving with the torque arm undone then I would think the caliper carrier is seized onto the hub it should rotate on the bearing hub .
You may get it moving by tiightening the hub pinch bolt remove brake caliper and torque arm and with some penetrating oil try knocking it back and forth with a bit of timber to free it up but ideally if you have a 46mm socket and large circlip pliers proper job done.

Re: S1000RR shock mod chain droop
Nothing is seized.
I have just rebuilt the rear end with a new hub carrier.
The top of the rear brake caliper hits the underside of the swingarm as soon as I adjust the hub carrier too high in the swingarm. Everything is connected when I do this, and only taking the caliper off allows the hub carrier to rotate fully in the swingarm.
I had thought about a longer brake carrier but that would mean the caliper would sit off of the disc slightly so a larger disc would be needed.
I think maybe a sacrificial block of nylon fitted to the point on the frame where the chain rubs when slack might be a good idea.

Ok all good in that respect just a thought.
