LED bulbs

Post by manicguitarist »

You can now get H4 LED bulbs 55/65W

These won't use anywhere near 55W -so do you reckon we'd be able to put these into an NC35 without doing a relay mod?

With most of them the light emitting area is larger than the old filament bulb so the reflector and lens won't focus the light properly. it could mean that dip beam might not pass the MOT

The current draw should be minimal so no need for a relay

I've got a set in my (grey market Jap) NC30, no relays. They seem to throw a fairly clean beam with a defined upper edge. I've only fitted them to a bike I bought a month ago, so haven't been through an MOT yet... Definitely brighter and stronger than the stock H4R 35/60 setup, and these came with rings which fit with only minor filing of one tab. The retaining wires were a pain during installation, to get them to clear the little fans/drivers which stick off the backs of the bulbs (but do clear the clocks, just). Those drivers/fans are a major issue on most of the H4 LEDs I've seen, at least for NC30s, not sure if/how different your NC35s are in that area. These are the ones I bought. There are another set that I'd like to try for an even better throw/beam, but they are currently £60 a pair and I have plenty of other things to spend that money on for now...
