Thoughts on using R6 exup end can.
I asked recently about aftermarket exhausts for the FZR 400 3EN1. All the aftermarket systems come without the exup valve and I understand to compensate they have narrower down pipes but the general feeling is the bike is still underpowered in the low/mid range.
I wondered if the R6 exup end can could be used with one of these aftermarket exhausts. I know plenty of people have put the R6 can on the FZR 600 (without using the exup part) so it is doable.
The issues would be mounting the end can and making a link pipe to join it. The existing exup motor and pulleys could probably be used with some alteration. None of that would need any major work.
I'm just thinking out loud and not planning on doing this myself but it may be an option for someone. I wanted to know if anyone thinks this is at all viable or is it a non starter?

I think the first thing is the pipes would join before the exup so you might get some problem with the gases pressurising the system.
To be honest, I've no real idea. The standard pipes are to wide so they don't make back pressure at low revs.

I have a standard old type R6 can and link pipe on my 3en1, fits really well, so may well be doable.

Re: Thoughts on using R6 exup end can.
Thanks guys.
I have an R6 can I was saving for my 600 but I just saw a cheap stainless system on eBay today for the 3TJ, which wont fit a 3EN unfortunately, but it did get me thinking more about this.
Money is a bit tight right now so I have been forced to rethink my options and I'm now actually considering doing this if I can get the downpipes at a reasonable cost. It may not work out but you never know.

If you can get the stainless headers cheap consider using the downpipes fitted into the cast valve part of your stock system.

Good call, Will.
I did ask one of the manufacturers a few weeks back if they would supply me with just the downpipes but they said theirs were made narrower to compensate for the lack of exup and wouldn't fit I should get back to them and see how much narrower they actually are.
