Also - did you rev the engine with the meter across the battery? If so, did you see a change in voltage then?

No idea. Honestly no idea. I've only had my RVF since Sept '14 - and my reg/rec has been fine. Rick Oliver or Magg or Neosophist are the folks to ask here. The key though is to mount it well, using thermal paste, against the frame. That way it'll dissipate all the excess heat. By "well", I mean close fitting.

I held it at 2000 rpm and also reved it and it was the very same

Ok. Sounds like the voltage being output is low - which would cause your battery to drain and then to kill it. All you need to do now is find out why the voltage is low.

I'd also consider the mod that I did over the weekend on my bike - which is to wire the reg/rec directly to the battery - as I was losing well over a volt in the wiring loom.

What is the document under for the step by step testing instructions....

Just aftern reading it and it says if the bike is only giving 11to 12 volts running it could b the alternator

Yup. But do all the checks. That way you buy only the bits you need. The reg/rec is easier to replace. It says to measure at the reg/rec and not at the battery - you could be losing some in the wiring loom - I was.

Wher do u put the probes from multi meter at the reg?
