CBR400 High Idle
Hiya,
I've got a CBR400 NC 23, I got it out for the summer last week and charged the battery. The choke was seized and I had to loosen it (Not the cable but the metal bit (that the black arm moves)). I left it in the 'not chocking' position and started the bike, it seemed to trip the bike. Checked fuses, all good. Then for no reason my lights come back on. Long story short, the battery terminals needed scratching.
The bike started
but it idled at 3k and would not come down... So I played with chocked again and its definitely off. The idle screw is so low the throttle bottoms out before it touches it (although the needles don't close off in the carbs, seems to work on some kind of vacuum)
I tried it again, tried revving it a bit, tried shacking it a bit
, still idles 3k - 2k RPM...
Any thoughts?

Re: CBR400 High Idle
probably related to your efforts to free the stuck choke mechanism. now the choke won't totally close, even though the cable and the black arm may appear to be in the closed position.

I think the sensible thing to do is strip and clean the carbs, use some carb cleaner and tooth brush on the outer bits and clean inner with carb cleaner. Loosen the outer choke guide off with some oil such as acf50. If you have time and money perhaps get them ultrasonically cleaned.set them according to spec.
