nc30- won't rev past 10-11k and died on idle..

Post by spenceley1 » Mon May 04, 2015 12:30 pm

So rode the bike last about 3 weeks ago, was perfect but today I went for a ride, bike was great for first ten miles or so, then all of a sudden wouldn't want to rev past 10k, really struggling and kicking back etc... Fueld her up, ran her on reserve made no difference, so rode home, tried every gear and didn't want to rev past 10-11k in any but below that ran absolutely fine. - Fuel starvation of some kind?

When I got back, pulled up to open the garage and whilst idling she just died, all dash lights out too... Then 30 seconds later the fan kicked in and dash lit back up but wouldn't turn over at all, as if battery flat? Regulator fried maybe?

Any help/ideas much appreciated! Want to enjoy this summer!

Ok so when I posted this I hadn't checked the bike over, was busy and had to rush out... Just had a good look and the connections to the battery were extremely loose, barely even making contact, tightened them up, all lights work and bike turned over, so maybe that explains why she died outside the garage? Everything else all looks fine...

Would that also cause the revs issue? I thought once the engines going then it sustains itself with no need for the battery or am I completely wrong?

Bikes runs on battery power, intermittent battery power will play havic with everything including ignition.

While it is true the generator will provide the majority if not all the power once the bike is running, when the bike is idling its all battery, but besides that the bikes system is designed to run with a battery in place, without it or with poor connections as magg has already pointed out your bike will run like shit.

have you ran it since?

Finally managed to get out on the bike today, running perfectly now, can't believe such a small thing caused it but am glad it's nothing serious :)

Cheers people :)
