Does anybody know of the advantages of MPH clocks instead of KPH are MPH derestricted? the bike i am breaking has MPH clocks and an HRC derestrictor sitting on the CDi should i keep these for my new NC30.?

You could ask in the nc30 section ....

I'd imagine it's easier to keep within the speed limit with MPH clocks, they're easier to read than an overlay and have a bigger sweep to the hand than a kmh clock with mechanical converter on.

Do you mean they are Japanese clocks with a mph face instealled (which is common)

as there is no need at all to put a hrc desretrictor on the ignition unit of a UK bike (that came wiht MPH clocks) as they dont have any restriction built in.

Genuine UK MPH clocks fetch decent money with the right collector.

And no real advantage, depends on how they are reading mph, some overlays are hard to see, sometime a convertor lets the speedo only read half the dial so its harder to judge the speed.

a decent mph replacement dial will look fine, giveaway is that the odometer will still read km.

thanks for the info, i think the clocks are genuine uk and have been fitted at a later date to the HRC unit, which one should i sell and which one do i put on my new bike as it sounds like i dont need both, Want to put the clocks on but then it will mess with the history and mileage.

stuff the clocks, for 25 quid you can get a decent mph dial to put on a km/h bike, uk clocks have fetched a couple of hundred pounds at least many times as they are thin on the ground and only really desirable to uk bikes.

as for the hrc unit, if its the SP-unit its just a delimiter for the JDM speedo, all it does is short two wires out that you can do with cut and splicing and some tape for free, yet many people pay 100 pounds or more for this plastic block.

often many sellers add to the myth that it boosts rpm range and other stuff but it doesnt do anythign apart from connect the speed sensor wire to 12v, which is necessary on a JDM bike when removing the clocks to prevent the bike from misfiring over 5500 rpm.

sell both, you might make a couple of hundred quid if they are genuine UK clocks (a picture will confirm) and you can buy some decent tyres / suspension / brakes or something you can acutually use on the bike.

Decision made the HRC unit has gone on ebay. Still unsure about the clocks but i think you may be right. Dont think it will add value to my new NC30 as it is all original as an import. are they original?? please let me know.

bit of reserch has shown that it is a dial face from redial uk Guess that's £200 out the window :)

yes they are redial, Japanese clocks.

if the clocks themselves still have the 1112mph speed limiter in it there are several ways you can disable the speed limiter for free.

HRC box will probably get you some money as it says hrc on it and is proof peopel will buy a chunk of plastic for what is stamped on it without really knowing what it does.
