Re: well im bleeding gutted this morning gsxr 400 gk76a
COMPRESSION ON CYLINDERS SEEM OK ISH
IM GOING TO CHECK ON THAT NEXT IF THEM BLOODY CHAIN GEARS HAVE BEEN REMOVED
I CAN GET A PRE 93 CDI OFF A MATE BUT DO I WANT THE TROUBLE I ALREADY HAVE 3 OTHER BIKES TO GO AT HONDAS AND KWAKER.
BUT THATS INTERESTING TO KNOW THAT IT DOWN IN ME LITTLE BOOK NOW
QUESTION THOUGH WHEN I TOOK THE BIKE TO BITS COS IT WAS RUNNING CRAP
AND MARKED EVERYTHING UP TO PUT BACK THE SAME WAY
1 AND 4 CYLINDERS ON TDC , WHEN THE CAMS WHERE IN I NOTICED THAT NO 4 CYLINDER THE OFFSIDE CYLINDER TO ME
WAS ON THE FIRING STROKE WHEN THE CAMS WHERE PUT IN
SHOULD THIS NOT BE 180 DEG DIFFERENT
IE WHEN CAMS ARE PLACED IN AND TIGHTENED UP SHOULD NOT NO 1 CYLINDER BE ON THE FIRING STROKE
I know these coil is firing both 1 and 4 but seems unusuall to me.
regards john
i dream of a proper 1994 manual instead of this bandit one to go off

Re: well im bleeding gutted this morning gsxr 400 gk76a
no stripes just using the bandit one as a comparison thats why i thought the cams where worne and put the 1991 cams in cos they where same sizes as bandit ones LOST COMPRESSION USING THESE SEEMS OK NOW ON PRESSURE TEST. THOUGHT IT WAS THE NEW RINGS OR A BENT VALVE
MY BIKE IS 1994 YEAR OF MANUFACTERE AND THEY CHANGED TO 53 BHP THEN SO THE CAMS AND DWELL ANGLE WHERE ALL WRONG
Have put the old cams back in but cant find anything on what the cam lobe dia is to check wear on these.
regards john

Give me a few days and I'll see if I can get hold of the 76a manual for you. It's somewhere around here. Although to be honest I have never really used it lol

With a post 93 running 2 exhaust cams works well. But not as good as pre 93. I've had a std 90sp do 68.7rwhp as a base run before I started tuning

Right John.
Pre 93 should have cam heights of 33.1 IN and 32.8 EX in mm
Post 93 will be 32.2 IN and 32.4 EX with limits of 31.9 IN and 32.1 EX.

Re: well im bleeding gutted this morning gsxr 400 gk76a
If the cam looks clean and not worn it will be ok, they make tiny adjustments each year so a 1994 may be a few hundredths different to a 93 or 95 etc.
