spark plugs got to much oil on them

Post by matthew »

Hi everyone I have a vfr400r nc30. Year model 91 shes my baby but would like a bit of advice from some of you who have also run in to this problem I changed my spark plugs in the bike all 4 of them pretty pricey but done and all changed bike runs very well but what I noticed when I took out the old plugs they had a lot of oil on them is that normal for the nc30 or is it running a bit rich.?

If it's oil not fuel then it's not to do with rich/lean. Was it on the thread on the side or the tip of the plug? If it's just on the thread then no worries as it's just oil seeping past the gasket.
Have you looked down into the head? If there's oil sat around the plug hole you may of dragged your plug through it when removing it.
If it's fuel not oil then it could be too rich.
