Carbituration Question

Post by nc30racer »

Hi Guys,

My NC30 has many modifications. There is a full Moriwaki exhaust system on it, HRC Airbox, HRC sliders, needles, emulsion tubes, jets and things. The bike pulls great and when I dynoed it in my home town of Innsbruck (which is 650 m above sea level) it showed a nearly linear power curve and a peak power of 60hp. But at high altitudes (~1500m), I can't get the bike out of the hairpins. It nearly stalls and it takes a very long time to recover before it explodes into live again. Is this something that has to be expected with a rich setup like mine (mains of about 140) or can this be changed? If so, where to start?

Cheers

The reason there is a range of jets in the HRC kit is to allow for changes due to atmosphere and related pressure.

So, yes indeed, get some leaner jets and set it up for the higher altitude. Simple... :)

Sounds like a lovely place to race - so, Hans-Peter, let's see some pictures!!

My problem is, I have no idea where to start. If it doesn't come out of hairpins, is it the slow circuit too rich? Or is the engine full of gasoline because of the big main jets? Is it the cut out of the slider or is it the needle? So many possibilities, all affecting all the others. It would be great, if I could get some advice. I'd also appreciate if I would be told some checking routines that would help to point out what to change.

The last time, we did some photo shootings out there, the digital camera was not invented yet .... and the place where we did them, was in Toscany, which is a even better place to race (maybe the best overall). Wait, there is a pic from last years ride out - look at the pavement.
