Using Bandit rear wheel.
Hi-Has anyone tried using a Suzuki Bandit rear wheel in a FZR400 & if so how much of a headache was/wasn't it? Thanks in advance.

I guess this is to convert a 1WG rear to 17" ?
All I've heard is a "Suzuki" wheel fits, don't know anything more

Well, start from the basics it's a 17" wheel, how wide is it and what tyre does it take, does that tyre work with the 110 profile of the front ? Just check the front tyre size of the blandit.
Next the spindle size, if the dia and length are Ok then you're in business.
The FZR has the smallest dia rear disc at 210 mm but you can get a bigger one cut down, or you're into a custom caliper hanger.
Next you need to center the wheel and line it with the front, you need two long pieces of timber use a G-clamp through the front wheel. Now measure the distances to the swingarm sides (do the same with the yamaha wheel and compare them). Lastly clamp a straight edge (steel angle or channel section) to the back sprocket and measure any offset to the front sprocket. You can get offset sprockets and it might be the time to swap to a 520 chain, if it's say 3 mm or more you might have a spacer made up.

The Blandit 600 wheel is 4.5 x 17, so with the 3 x 17 front they'd be the same sizes as the 3XV- you can use a 110 front and 150 rear no problem.
I think the bearing IDs are 20mm so you'll need spacers to sleeve the size down to 17mm. I've got no idea how wide the wheel is across the hub though. The rear disc is 240mm diameter (from memory), we do a 220m diameter one that fits the Bandit/SV650 bolt pattern...
520 sprockets are available for the Bandit cush drive and you can get a 520 for the 400 output shaft as well. It's just a case of buying a wheel and seeing what's what or maybe a trip to a bike shop with a tape measure to get a guerrilla measurement across the inside of the B6 swingarm might be in order?!

I remember reading a blog about a guy racing who was using the bandit 400 rear wheel, these are 17.0 - 4.0 and if I remember correctly took very little fitting, if you really need the 4.5 width then you are loads better off using the ones from a 400, fzr,zxr,gsxr etc because they are a lighter cast than the 600 wheels, especially at the rim edge so centrifugal weight when riding.

A 4.5" rear would be the same as a 3tj , I'm not sure it would fit in the 1wg swingarm

In addition to the GSF400 bearings, you can use the internal spacer, the cush to wheel spacer, and of course you need a GSF400 cush as well. Just need the outer spacers and the brake mod's as below.
It's the same 4" width as the original wheel, so if you are racing in a class that requires you to keep the same width if you are updating to a 17" wheel it works well.

Sorry, forgot to mention that there are other `modifications` at hand at the same time. The swingarm to be used is from a 3TJ inc caliper & mount, because of this the axle is the same size as the bandit (1 less problem)! The main reason to use this setup is to gain the 17" wheel but also up to a 160 tyre. I have the cush & sprocket carrier from the bandit & it all fits in the arm but it's quite a bit off center - I was wondering if anyone had ventured down this route before & knew what size spacers to make up & offset sprockets? Other than that it looks like a trip to Kayla & see what's do-able!! Any info greatly appreciated - if I manage to get it sorted will post info in case anyone else wants to use this wheel setup.

If you're going to use the 3tj arm just use the 3tj rear wheel.
A 160 needs a wider wheel than a 4". The 3tj is 4.5".
A 110 front isn't so good with a 160 rear
