2TK - under load won't rev <3000
Hi All
I acquired a non-running 2Tk recently which had been dry stored for some time and am slowly getting it sorted.
Got it running and did the usual plugs and lead replacement...the issue is with running under load.
- starts
- warms-up
- idles; and
- free revs absolutely fine, but...
...it just doesn't want to know above 3000 rpm once put under load
Not sure of the criticalitly of running with the airbox on (this is all with the airbox removed but the trumpets attached)
It's as though it's not getting enough fuel - dash pots don't appear to want to lift (where main jet needles are attached) when under load.
Is there something obvious I'm missing here
?
Any advice gratefully received.
Cheers

put the airbox back on ..
should sort it .. they're very sensitive to this.

If the airbox is a bastard to get on then the rubbers have gone hard - get some new ones by ringing Fowlers in Bristol but you need to quote the frame number before they'll serve you.
If it's still not happy check the EXUP valve is opening

we had a problem with a 3tj that wouldnt rev, it turned out to be a faulty cdi.

Thanks All for the quick responses.
I'll try replacement air box rubbers first (yes, they're rock hard...) and then move on to exup valve / CDI after that.
Cheers :)

Hi All
Ok then...
Have replaced ALL carb rubbers (carb - airbox & carb - engine), replaced the airbox and...guess what?...
Absolutely no difference - still won't accept throttle under load
Is fitting a new CDI the next best option or would this be casting pearls before swine, or perhaps is there something else I should be looking at?
As stated before, the bike appears standard 1WG and there is nothing to doubt the fact that it ran before a dry stored lay up of a couple of years.
I will try Fowlers but is anyone able to confirm a cheap(er) source for a CDI?
Thanks in advance - Julian

it wont be cheap if it comes from fowlers as it will prob be brand new. there are so many people doing FZR600 to 400 swaps that some one will have one knocking around that you could prob borrow, to see if yours is at fault.
have you checked the exup?
is the fuel pump clicking and working too

Check the exup next - disconnect it if needs be and try then.
After that it's the valves.
've got a spare 1wg exup cdi you can try.
