Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
very inspirational thread evil chicken :)
Would you happen to have any of those seals left?
I've got myself some 2000 faster rods and am waiting for the 3he crank to come up. There is one on the bay at the mo, but I don't know what is a good price for one.
and I've got a '95 transmission cluster coming from the usa for my 4hj engine.

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
on another note, did the starter gears from the 4h shaft fit on the 3HE crank or did you need the starter gears from the 3he as well?

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
The starter is the same its the attachment of the later flywheel to the crank that's the biggest problem. The 3he has the same profile as the 4jh / tcat crank but it doesn't stick out as far (crude description). I had a spacer made by BDK but the guy wasn't happy because its quite thin so difficult to machine.
Are you in the UK or states ?

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
uk based, surrey.
The other option, and therefore another possibility is this:
I don't have anything other than the frame and the 4JH engine.
I don't even have a stator coil or cover.
I was looking to remake the loom from the ground up so...
I was thinking of using an ignitech unit and possibly getting dyne coils or the 4jh's coils.
So, I suppose the question to ask is this:
Can I use the 3HE crank in my 4H case with the 3HE flywheel and stator coil?
Also from your earlier posts, I won't have the fun and games of the crankshaft frankenseal?
On last thing - gasket kits, yamaha or go for a Vesrah or Athena?
thanks in advance,
Sev.
p.s. I am officially envious that you have an SB6, I remember when hey first came into the galleria Bimota and I've never stopped adoring them since :)

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
You'd probably be better off with a 3he bottom end, using the 3he cases. As you say that would get you round the generator and seal. Not sure how the barrels and head will fit on though.
Use the Yamaha ignition. Dyna coils should be fine.
The SB6 a great bike but its a bit like meeting your hero too

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
thanks for the low down. I have access to a machinist so I might well ask him to see about turning the adaptor as you did.
How did you get round the seal in the end and how is yours bearing up?
if you did have to get the seal made bespoke what was the minimum order quantity? - I might well be up for going for some.
I'm in no rush to do anything until the engine is built up, and I want to measure the frame and draw it up on cad anyway.

I haven't done anything with the engine ... I got sidetracked.
I think I have a spare seal

Brilliant if you have - I'm watching a crank at the moment. Just waiting on BDK to get back to me on the spacer.Evilchicken0 wrote:I haven't done anything with the engine ... I got sidetracked.

Ultimately at least I know the engine will be fully reconditioned once built. :)

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
Hello all,
I am building this same build in the states. evilchicken has been a big help. If yall need some help getting parts from over the pond i will be glad to assist. I have quite a few 4jh parts and shipping over seas is nothing. Even have some of those special seals sitting around. I have also contacted BDK recently and should with luck have one of those spacers adaptors in my posession soon. anyway, happy holidays.

Re: Six Hundred and Sixty
Got both of these articles if anybody wants em? Might be able to turn up some spacers for the seals too.
I'd be interested in any other links/articles on the same line thanks!
