rvf400 47bhp restriction

Post by p0gue-mahone » Sat Sep 27, 2014 5:25 pm

Hello all
I have come to the fountain of knowledge for some advice on restricting my rvf400.
My son has passed his a2 licence and is soon to acquire my rvf.
He has ordered the restriction washers from kick start engineering and these will be fitted next week.
The question I have is about removing the mods that have been fitted, it has 112.5 main jets and the needles have been shimmed,it is also fitted with a Art exhaust.
Should i revert the mains back to 108's and remove the shims ? I dont have the original exhaust so the art can will have to stay.
Any thoughts on the subject would be gratefully received.

Rvf's run rich from the factory so extra shims on the needles is usually a bad idea anyway, remove them and go back to a single 0.5mm shim and try 110 mains. All that said id run the the bike as is first and see what its like.

If you want a standard can I think I have one in the loft

Thanks for the reply.
I ended up leaving the 112s in,as once the restriction washers were fitted there were no running issues.
The retrictors did however take three attempts to fit as they stop the carbs from seating in the rubbers, causing air leaks.

Are you getting it dynoed or just trusting that they make it 47bhp?

If I had to get it restricted, I;d be looking at some throttle stop kind of affair to prevent WOT and so limit the power.
