Has anyone got the aftermarket non-curved top radiator to fit on the NC30? As Graeme France used to sell them I assume they can be made to fit, however I got one off eBay and there are some big problems that prevent it fitting the bike:
1) It has extra tabs & brackets that the OEM one doesn't, and they foul the frame (also you can't get the stone guard on cos they're all in the wrong places);
2) Its upper hanger brackets are much too close to the top of the radiator so even if you do break off the extra tabs, it won't fit because the throttle cables go there;
3) Fairings? But I didn't get that far...
If anyone has some advice please let me know, ta.

Oh. I have a straight top rad, there was a link via this site a while ago to the ebay guy, and fitted fine. Ok, you can't fit the stone guard, and the tabs required a little 'adjustment', but in the end it fitted alright.
Have you got any pics? Here's mine.

Re: Straight top radiators
I've fitted a set to a bike I'm building at the moment there are issues that can be overcome the stone guard can be made to fit not got round to fairing fitting yet but from what I can gather from others is the main issue on the non curved upper rads is the radiator caps proximity to the fairing .anything else can be overcome with some tweaking of brackets etc .

Re: Straight top radiators
I tie wrapped the stone guard on by drilling small holes in the top of the rads edge where needed

Re: Straight top radiators
i have a straight set- agree with the top mounting tab issues. Mine were straight, and too short- made up a couple of ali brackets to offset them by about 40mm and all was fine.
i did have a minor issue with the rad cap catching the inside of the fairing though- although this is a Tyga Suzuka nosecone, so it had a bit of "flex" which helped it get over cap- tis all good now.

Re: Straight top radiators
Thank you all for the info. Good to know they can be made to fit, but making up brackets etc I don't have tools/skills/time for at the moment, so in the end because I needed to get the bike back on the road ASAP as it is my only transport, I bought another upper radiator from this ebay seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-VFR-400 ... 498224675?
I asked him if he'd sell just the upper and he did it for £100 delivered, it arrived less than 24 hours after I paid for it. Very good eBay seller! And the radiator is an (almost) exact match for the OEM upper radiator. Except that the spout bit where the reservoir hose attaches is a bit too wide for the OEM hose to fit on, but I went to a plumbing supplies place and got a metre of 7mm bore silicone tube for £2 and it's all sorted now. There was a little bit of tab bending involved but no cable fouling or frame/fairing colliding.
FYI I will be selling the (unused but de-tabbed) straight upper radiator in the correct For Sale section when I can take some pictures of it tomorrow.
