1WG non-runner HELP!
Hi all im ollie
iv been lurking in the background or a while now but have recently brought myself a FZR400R 1WG project bike, after owning a VFR400 NC30 i jumped at the chance to have another TROUSER FIREWORK
now my poor 1wg has seen better days the wiring has been chopped and sliced and she’s been down the road more than once
but the reason im here asking for help is she just wont start, iv downloaded the manual ( although its is for US spec bikes unsure exactly what model ) and im working through the ignition trouble shooting section but im having a couple of issues.
so lets start with the basic problem - ign = on and i get my green neutral light no other lights, i press start and NOTHING except the oil light comes on??
iv done some testing main switch and kill switch are ok .
the battery is ok .
the starter solenoid is ok .
the starter is ok .
side stand switch is dead but i have linked this out .
my fuel pump was showing a closed circuit across the terminals with no resistance - this has been replaced but i wouldn’t of thought this to be the cause, just another problem lol.
now i have read up that the relays on these can be a pain unfortunately with the wiring loom being tempered with ( cant even find the main fuse!!) and the manual being for US bikes and i not sure specifically for the 1wg im having trouble identifying which relay is which and what one is most likely to be my problem.
im currently unable to find the clutch cut off relay, starting circuit cut off relay, diode block, digital ignitor unit and fuel pump relay :S
any help advice or even a nudge in the right direction would be great
Thanks in advance Ollie

Re: 1WG non-runner HELP!
Welcome to the rebel alliance :)
The main fuse is on the solenoid
Have a look on the rear subframe and find the big black diode ... see the blue wire going in ? Check it hasnt broken
Have a look http://www.madsi.co.uk/models.aspx an I'd your model ... Might be easier to get a secondhand loom off the bay.

Cheers mate that’s a great help i believe mine is a 1989 3en2 1wg - twin lights, ram ducts and delta box swing arm
on the left side of the rear sub frame i have a black rectangular box with about a dozen cables going into it and next to that a blue cylinder with only a couple - i was under the impression the blue one is the flasher unit for my indicators? or is this the one you mean?
i have found a loom with relays for cheap if it comes to that by im never keen as you dont know how long that will last
cheers Ollie

Re: 1WG non-runner HELP!
I think the manual you are using is more related to the earlier Genesis model (even then it is not 100% correct for grey imports in UK; only the US models) rather than being suitable for 3EN2 electrical diagnostics.
All the relays are built into one block rather than the separate ones you are hunting for (as in your first post) and is the one described by Evilchicken0.The only other one, is as you assume, the indicator relay.

I am unsure if the main fuse is built into the side of the starter solenoid without dismantling a bike !
I think it is held in the main fusebox situated at the rear. Two in the block are only being held as spares.
The spares manual only lists 10 and 20 amp fuses; no 30amp !

If you need to find the reg/rec. it is under the battery box on a 3EN2 and it is recommended that the earth connection on it is cleaned and checked.

The TCI unit is bolted to the rear mudguard and is specific to the 3EN2;no other will work.

Beware of used harnesses; not because of wear but rather they are specific to the TCI and the model (only the 3EN1 TCI and the SP 2TK may be swapped)
And ;Yes, the oil light should illuminate when the starter button is pressed.
It is an oil LEVEL light: not for pressure. Being lit when starter button is pressed is a means to test that the circuit is operational and that the bulb has not failed.

Re: 1WG non-runner HELP!
The power supply for the main fuse that is in the fusebox comes off the solenoid.
