At the engine end the nut is right on the edge of the threads, the lever end is fully in but I thought it was for fine adjustment, there's a little bit of freeplay but that disappears when I wind the lever adjust out.

I see, sounds about right to me. My lever end is about 1/2 way out, easy to see why the clocks get messed up! :)

Ive found this with a new OEM cable, right at the end of its adjustment from the off. Seems too long to fit properly too.

That's interesting, I thought it was just me being and idiot not routing it correctly but sounds like this could be an issue with them being manufactured too long.

Neo your selling the VFR ? the one you fished out of the rice field ?

i initially thought since it was a pattern part that thats why it didnt fit properly, but i'm glad to see i'm not the only one, i'll ask rick if hes came across it and is there a way to fix it or get around it.
