having problems with the chain and sprocket settings
Ive got a 520 conversion kit on my 3tj. The front is a 16 tooth and a 43 rear. The bike runs great around windy corners up to 70 km's but when travelling on open road at 100 km's in sixth gear at 7000rpm it really doesn't have that much more power. My bike has had everything done to it . The engine has had a good work over with 1mm oversized rings and barrels put in for a bit more power but it doesnt have much pull over 9000rpm but the midrange is great is this common should i take a look at my sprocket sizes ? I would like some more rpm to work with when im in the open road because im finding it quite flat up above 9000rpm. or is this how these bikes are? So im thinking of changing my sprocket gearing back to standard which I have never had on this bike which would be the 428 chain with 19 front and a 55 rear. Would you think this would help?
My engine has been rebuilt and everything checked so im not down on power at all. I have got a dynojet kit in there also and midrange is good but there is not much up top besides a whole lot of screaming.
So with my 520 kit that i have at the moment it gives me a gear ratio of 2.69 and if I change back to a standard 428 chain with a 19 front and 55 rear it will give me a gear ratio of 2.89. will this help with spreading the power? or should i go with say a 46 rear?
any help would be great guys

I think the standard gearing with the 520 chain is 15 front and 45 rear. Might be worth changing the front as they are cheaper than the rears.

In theory increasing the number of teeth on the front sprocket and/or decreasing the number of teeth on the rear sprocket you will result in higher top speed, lower acceleration and better fuel economy. And vice versa: decreasing the number of teeth on the front sprocket and/or increasing the number of teeth on the rear sprocket will result in lower top speed, higher acceleration and worse fuel economy
