low down bogging rvf
Since fitting a full twinstack system and gsxr genni the slight low down bogging I had has got a lot worse, for example when pulling away from traffic lights I need to blip the throttle a few times and ride the clutch or it will bog right down, its almost as if its got a vfr 1st gear. Once its going its fine no midrange flatspots and revs out cleanly with decent power. Carbs are all stock settings bar 110 or 112 jets I cant remember now what I put in there so is it just a case of leaning out the pilot screw or should I be looking elsewhere?

Re: low down bogging rvf
GSXR genni has a lighter flywheel does it not?
I remember after fitting mine to my vfr that I had to rev it a little harder to get it going nicely.
Less rotating mass in the engine = easier to stall.

Re: low down bogging rvf
Yes there is that but its more than just a light flywheel, ive had these genni's on other nc's and im pretty sure i can rule out the affects of the lighter flywheel. Even at stand still the first blip of the throttle feels like its going to die, the second blip feels fine even if you let it settle to tick over which is whats leading me to think its fuel related. The bike occasionally also needs a whiff of throttle to start too, I also run a +2 rear sprocket so its not lacking acceleration.
Everything else is in good order, vac pipe, new oem filter, intake etc

Re: low down bogging rvf
I have the same sort of symptoms on mine.
I've never really been bothered about it though as my thoughts were, I've just spent a lot of time and money sorting these carbs and I know they're right so I'm not fucking about with them again.
Sometimes when I come to a stop at traffic lights not long into a journey the bike feels like it wants to die.
Problems go away once everything is nice and warmed through though.

Sounds weak to me Tony, what air filter is being used.
Try adjusting pilot screws 1/2t first to see if any better/different, then go from there.

That's right, but as BM says get engine hot first.

your floatheights are set proplery right? theyll make most difference off the throttle / idling too.

Float heights were a touch to low so thats rich if my logic is right? Set to 12.5mm and its much better now, cheers neoNeosophist wrote:your floatheights are set proplery right? theyll make most difference off the throttle / idling too.

Re: low down bogging rvf
just seen this and tony i agree, float heights play quite a part in getting shot of flat spots and poor running issues.
as soon as a monkey gets inside the carbs and starts bending stuff then its pot luck.
as soon as i see a bike with chewed carb screws i fear the worst and set the heights regardless of how they were. often with better results
