Evans Waterless Coolant

Does anyone use Evans Waterless Coolant in their bike?

It's supposed to eliminate overheating, increase bhp, reduce pressure in the system and prevent corrosion, works as an antifreeze and lasts a lifetime.

All sounds good but its not cheap. Does anyone know of any negatives before I change over to this coolant?

Sounds like snake oil to me...

If your bike isn't getting into the red zone on the temp gauge (which is around 105C) then good old water and antifreeze should be fine.

Hi, I can't see it making much difference myself, you'd prob be better off cleaning the lower rad fins out than changing coolant.

I'm happy to be proven wrong but the only way you will increase bhp is if the fluid has less resistance than ordinary coolant on the pump, even then your increase in bhp is only goin to be a microscopic amount, much less than 1hp.

Unless they refer to it keeping your engine cooler, thereby increasing your bhp.

This is just marketing bullshit and clever wording. It won't give you anymore bhp than a cool engine, but if it can somehow imrpove cooling on a crap coold engine then you might well indeed see a performance increase.

Negatives would be wasting your money.

Normal coolant works as an antifreeze and corossion inhibitor also.

If your having issues with overheating then fix them and use ordinary coolant, don't try to bodge around them with wonder water.

These bikes came from Japan, which on average has 3 long hot summer months of +30c for a good portion of everyday weather and high humidity, ordinary coolant works fine there.

I run water wetter in the rc30 and it certainly does keep it cooler in summer better than just water. Not so sure on more power etc etc

than just plain water or water and antifreeze mix?

its late and im too tired to go into great length but plain water is better at transferring heat than an antifreeze / water (coolant) mix.

So many people who swtich from ordinary coolant to water wetter notice an imrovement in cooling as they are using more water.

From the last time i looked into it, wetter water helps prevent localised hotspots in an engine (bad for running) not lower overal temperature. It also doesnt raise the boiling point of water like antifreeze will.

In race-engines which are subjected to harsh use water is a better coolant and water wetter will help prevent any localised hotsposts forming in the engine. (its possible to have localised boiling of the coolant but the overall temperature is fine)

its all very techincal but just like washing up liquid makes grease not stick to pans, the water wetter allows the water to cool hot parts by loweing the tension or somethign like that :D

Eitherway for a stock 400 normal coolant is fine, its waht they come out the factory with.

No fella i have ran both. Mixture in winter and water only in summer. It helped when stuck In traffic but aftermarket rads made a whole difference again and am now back on mixture

I see. Seems to make sense what they are saying.

Don't think it will make things wose, so If you have the money to spend by all means use it.

dont forget though that the bike was designed for normal coolant and many of them have been running for 25 years or more without issue using exactly that.

In most situations the normal stuff wont give you any issues.

If the cooling system was filled with Evans Waterless Coolant, does anyone know how much hotter, in ºC, the bike would run in normal circumstances? I'm running the bike without a fan so it would be useful to know what this temperature would be.
