hi guys, hoping you could help me out with a quick diagnosis, seeing as im pretty new to bike mechanics!
just rode home along the m4, and opened her up for once, so i was going a bit quick.
as i pulled off for my junction all power seemed to disappear! luckily i nursed it home- just.
as i open the throttle, i only seem to get minimal power from the first 5000rpm, and as it revs past that band all power increase stops, so 9000 feels just like 3000, and literally had to crawl home.
it also sounds a little different, the revs dont bog down, just sounds a different tone.
my first thought was fuel starvation/empty tank- as i was deliberately finishing up my tank so i could remove it later, but there is still some fuel in there; not loads but enough for 20 miles id guess.
so is it fuel starvation? any ideas?
thanks for your help guys!
what happened to my NC30?!

Re: what happened to my NC30?!
Hi mate,
I would put a few more litres of fuel in and see if it cures it. If not then come back and sure one of the guys on here can help.

Re: what happened to my NC30?!
Try some more fuel in the tank like said above, I'd also recommend changing the fuel hoses, they are very cheap from Rick Oliver and always worth doing if you don't know when they where last done. The vacume hose especially deteriorates with all the heat and whilst it might look fine when your at a standstill it can close up as the revs increase.
Only other thing I can think of is possibly something charging system related, never does any harm getting a multimeter and checking your bike is charging ok.
Oh and Rick Oliver sells fuel hoses, last time I checked it was £10ish delivered for them.

id guess at vaccum hose split / collapsing if it died after running at some speed.
cheap and easy to check / replace and often fix it

Before I came back to this thread, had the tank off and had a look under- then a friend drove past and mentioned throwing more fuel in- fixed it like you guys suggested, feel daft now! But thanks anyway guys and I think I'm gonner replace the fuel hoses in the near future regardless, they've seen better days- thanks again for the input

Another quick question- the fuel tap has three spigots for hoses- one is the fuel hose, another is for the vacuum- but what's the last one for?
Just curious, because I also found another air breather hose which is unioned to the tank breather Jose, stuffed down the side of the frame, what's that about?

the outside pipe is the vaccum, the middle one is a vent to let the diaphram move.Whichmcqueen wrote:Another quick question- the fuel tap has three spigots for hoses- one is the fuel hose, another is for the vacuum- but what's the last one for?

The vents run each side of the bike, check the service manual in the downloads section, chapter 1 contains the routing layout for the vents.
