New Coolant Hoses

Post by iDemonix »

Got my new rads, few tweaks needed to get the fan fitting etc. Anyway, feels like sacrilege putting the tired old grey hoses back on, but £90 - £110 for Samco hoses seems a little steep. Has anyone had success with the £30 chinese hoses from evilBay? Not Samco's but can't be worse than the original tatty ones!

Seems the choices are:

Samco (rip off - £110 delivered)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-VFR400- ... 1338379204

GPI Racing (not too bad - £50 delivered but piss-take shipping)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GPI-Racing-si ... 3f2022e6f6

Chinky (£35 delivered, again - awful shipping wait)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Red-silicone- ... 19e2ab3963

I'm tempted by the GPI but put off by the fact I could be waiting 6 weeks, I want to have the bike MOT'd and road going in 2-3 weeks! So, part of me is saying just shell out for samco's but I resent paying so much for some fucking hose that cost them all of £5 to make!

Anyone tried the alternatives?

How about painting the standard hoses with tyre black, never tried it but may work ok, just a thought

It's not just the looks, they're a little dried out, tired and stressed at the ends - time for some new, especially as the rads and pump are replaced - might as well do the full cooling system.

They seem reasonable-ish priced and UK based, anyone tried 'em?

I'm sure a couple of people on here have them. I think they are pretty much the same as samco's and generally as well regarded.
