I hear that drums off a Dax go straight ondeclangaelic wrote:buy an NC30![]()

Seriously though, probably some fresh fluid and braided lines would do the job. A rebuild would help out muchly too.

It's a very cheap wet bike for the track so not the point but cheers for the constructive advicedeclangaelic wrote:buy an NC30![]()

Re: Brake upgrade NC21
NC24 calipers fit but there identical to the NC21 calipers :D
Umm, bit more in-depth:
The stock brakes are ok when they are working well, the following is the simplest / cheapest things to do, any other calipers require major work.
Remove the calipers from the forks and pull them in half, make sure the sliders are clean and the rubber seals are in good condition, grease them up real nice. Make sure the pistons are all free to move too and replace any seals if necessary.
Master Cylinder in good order? The 21's gonna be 22+ years old so it might need a rebuild kit (world of difference if it's not working well)
New Brake Fluid (Use good stuff) I find DOT 4 is fine.
Braided lines are a must, the stock rubber hoses flex like hell, again after 20+ years some goodrich / similar are a good investment, a 2-line race setup will bypass the lower splitter and give you a firmer brake lever.
New Pads. Obv.
I can't recall if the 21 has floating discs ottomh, I know the 24 does and there a direct fit.

Re: Brake upgrade NC21
we got a pair of SBF forum people I see
Must drop in a say hi to Mick
as I have not seen him in a while.
Hows it going over there? Still the mad sheep and Kerm running the show?
@ Southerner.. not a lot to be done for the 21s brakes mate. It was never a sports bike and so wet track sessions are a good call for it!
Depending on your motivation you could prob do a fork swap and run some 30 fork legs which opens up the world of 4 pot modern style brakes as std or with adpaters you can fit brembos and the last of the non radial nissins - SP1/cbr6rr and fireblade style...like me!

Re: Brake upgrade NC21
21 has 37mm forks same as the 24.
I have a set of NC30 forks here, I dont' think the yokes are long enough thought so it might need the longer yokes off a later RC36, i'll see when I get it stripped.
Also the 30 forks are 50mm shorter than the 21/24 forks so the geomatry might be messed up.
Oh and the 16" wheel doesn't work either.
