Headlight shields :-)

Post by Conrod »

Hi all :-)
At night I am getting a lot of light on the inside of the faring. I think I should have two rubber shields that go over the headlights and push up against the faring to block out the light that comes back illuminating the faring. I went to my honda dealer this morning and the part is not available any more. What is the best solution to this problem of mine

Thanks Adrain :-)

How about that thin foam that has an adhesive backing? Sure you must get it in the uk... assuming you are there

Headlight rubbers come up every now and again in the parts for sale section but some have used bike inner tubes , turned inside out then glued.
I think some of the pound shops sell inner tubes so you maybe able to get a cheap fix

Thanks for all your thoughts. I was thinking along the lines of turning a inner tube inside out. I will visit my local motorcycle shop tomorrow and see if they have a old one. :-) Adrian

I used a pushbike innertube with some glue from a puncture repairkit after I cut it to the right size.

Terrible to ride without them as you get too much light in the dash area

I got a old inner tube from my local dealer today. I think it may be a bit tricky to get a good fit but when I find the time I shall do it and tell you the awesome result I get.

Yep, I used an old pushbike inner tube, cut it to the right size and stapled it together.

They work as well as the originals.

Even with the OEM rubber shields you can still get some light leaking into the inside of the nosecone so I also use some of the sticky backed foam (like door draught excluder)on the inside of the nosecone around the headlight appatures so the rubber boots sit really snuggly against it - hence no (or at leats minimal) light inside  .
