Nc30 Turning engine over

Post by Triplespeed »

Its been a while since Ive been able to get my act together and go out to the garage so I thought I would turn the engine over and it turns over rotating clockwise - for some reason I went anticlockwise after a few turns and it felt loose so I stopped right away. Must have only gone a few degrees.
Then turned it clockwise again and it felt fine, but , have I bawsed something up but turning anti clockwise?
If so what now?

Sorry for the most probably daftest question of all time but any advice wold be appreciated

cannot imagine why it would not work? You are using the 14mm on the end of the crank ??

Yeah that's it with the 14mm.
Just thought I would enquire to make sure I've not broken something obvious before I carry on rebuilding her

Depends how paranoid you are... If it turns over the right direction without nasty clunks or click..then you'll be right

I wouldn't think turning it over the wrong way would do any harm?

I remember doing the same thing to mine last year when checking the valve clearances. It's still running fine now.

Excellent, thanks for your help fellas . Being a bit paranoid I thought I'd make enquiries but nice to know I've not broken anything.

If it went loose you either went past the compression stage so you have an easy bit or you might have undone the bolt so make sure its tightened back up or it will work itself loose and might cause all sorts of nasty issues.

Good point, ill make sure it's tight, cheers buddy.
I turned it clockwise again and it felt fine so I'm probably just being a bit paranoid. I'm more annoyed as it's something I've done rather than a running fault
