CARBS help

Post by factorypilot »

had carbs sonically cleaned
refitted(that was easy :x ) and found coil gone, replaced coil got running (roughly)
cleaned plugs ,regapped running ok but still not right?
now found to be leaking fuel from a pipe on engine inlet(see pics)
removed carbs and found ( choke plungers ?) on 2 rear carbs siezed ( see pics again)
managed to free up 1 but broke other
Question is... would the siezed plungers cause the bad running and fuel leakage?
Question 2 does anyone out there have an old set of carbs in bits that has a muchly appreciated choke plunger ;)

I would imagine if the choke is stuck on then the the bike would be very rich, and could cause the carbs to overflow.
I have a full set of 30 carbs (in bits) that i would sell - dont want to split as i have no need for parts and dont fancy selling bits here and there.

I seem to be missing something.
If you had the carburettors ultrasonically cleaned then surely they were fully stripped first. How did the choke plungers become seized?

Depends if it's stuck in or out, if its in then its wont run on that cylinder very well until it get warm and like skinydog say if its out then it'll run rich when its warm.
However a stuck choke wont make the carbs leak, if petrols leaking out then the floats are sticking or the float bowls aren't sealing, sounds like they wont another rebuild to me.

thanks for the replies
sorry for delay in answering but as i posted on sunday i had a phone call from A&E to say the mrs had chucked her bike down the road so been a bit busy since then! (she was very lucky , overnight stay in hospital amnesia and cuts and very nasty bruising ,bike a right off )
Took carbs off again ( practice makes perfect)drained them of fuel and crap removed and freed up seized and broken choke plunger refitted plungers and set broken one to closed,( so choke works on 3) temporary fix until i can get some cheap carbs for spares ,run a few trackdays and finish rest of trackbike mods, refitted carbs and fired up(in half hr ..gets easier with practice  ) and ran spot on with no leaks
thanks again for help and advice
