NC30 race bike with clipons - what clutch cable?
On a bike with clipons the OEM clutch cable is just too long - you can kind of get it on but it is bent and tortured and just doesn't fit very well.
What clutch cables do others use on bikes with clipons (equals lowered bars)?
Thanks all.

Re: NC30 race bike with clipons - what clutch cable?
I installed a set of clip-ons from Projection-Components onto my NC35 (pretty sure everything would be the same on the NC30) and I didn't have any issue regarding the cable being too long. How have you got the cable routed? Put a photo up when you can and I'll check it against mine.
By the way, did you hear the Pirelli RR round 1 at Broadford has been cancelled due to the hot weather we've had. Not sure if you'd already entered or are only planning on doing the Interclub rounds?

Re: NC30 race bike with clipons - what clutch cable?
Sorry for late reply. Fixing stuff!
(Yes, I heard about the Pirelli cancellation. Doesn't make me feel so bad about not having a bike ready ..)
Anyways, clutch cable:
With OEM on it is fairly stressed:

And when the bars turn it gets more stressed at the lever end at the join of the metal 'U' and the cable.
But ... I looked at the (newly acquired) spare bike and it has a different cable - not OEM. Here is it fitted to mine:

But when bent you can see the kink it has in it that makes it feel pretty darn heavy - otherwise it is a great fit.

It doesn't have the 'U' bend at the lever end, nor at the clutch end:

It does seem to fit well, which is the reason I asked out here what other people did rather than use the OEM.

Re: NC30 race bike with clipons - what clutch cable?
Sorry I took this long to get back to you, been busy getting the bike ready fort he Hartwell round this weekend (installed my HRC suspension linkage with the GSXR shock, hopefully this thing drops my lap times by 10 secs or more!!!!).
Anyway, back to your clutch cable. I have a similar aftermarket cable as you now have but I have my cable running between the top of the radiator body and it's LHS upper mount (I don't use the cable guide that is attached to the upper fairing stay), then travelling between the frame and the engine (yours runs outside of the frame?).
I don't seem to have any issues with the cable being bent too much, but my forks can't turn anywhere near as much as standard due to the thicker steering lock stops (I think that's what they're called, the blocks on the lower triple clamp that lessons the amount your forks can turn...if that makes sense?)

10 seconds? At least mate, at *least*. :-) Good luck at Hartwell.
Re the aftermarket cable. Thanks. Can you recall what it is off and where you got it?

Re: NC30 race bike with clipons - what clutch cable?
If I could cut 10 seconds off my lap time I'd be leading, which isn't going to happen in my lifetime :-)
I honestly can't remember where I bought the cable from, or if it was the cable that came on the bike when I bought it back in 2010. I'll have a look at it tonight when I get home to see if there's any writing on it at all, maybe a manufacturers stamp??? I'll let you know.

Had a quick look at the cable last night and there is some writing on there, but it's mostly rubbed off and not legible. Also, when I turn the bars to the right the cable does get a relatively tight bend from being pushed up against the speedo bracket coming from the frame. I've probably never noticed any affects though because of the fairly limited turning circle.

Thanks. No worries. If I find a good replacement, I'll post here.
