NC30 30A Fuse Blowing

Post by jamie125 »

Happy New Year All!

The main fuse on my nc30 blows every time its replaced, I haven't had a chance to do some rectifier checks yet, is it likely to be the rectifier itself at fault or a knackered alternator? Or are there other things that could cause this to happen?

Thanks in advance.

Argh I hope not, just had a quick look at the rec doesn't looked burnt out & all the cables look ok. May have to start looking for a short. :|

Ok, the fuse is fine with all the cabling to the reg/rec removed, does this mean the reg/rec is knackered?

Possibly, could also be the cabling itself catching somewhere.

I'd get out the multimeter :peace:

Have fun!

I'm reading a dead short on the reg/rec across the positive terminal & only 1 of the 3 yellow cable terminals, is this my fault or normal?

the thing is a pile of diodes - so one way traffic only. The three yellow wires are the genny output - 1 dodgy reading would suggest that the alternator is frazzled..and it took the reg rec with it.

Yeah the rectifier is knackered, will check alternator aswell. Do the r6 rectifiers fit without modifying the mounting points?
