Vfr750 wheel and swingarm on NC30

Post by jimmytanko »

Hi i have tried to search on here for info about whether or not a Vfr750 swing arm would fit onto a NC30.
I have found a vfr750 rear wheel (8 spoke) with rear shock, caliper, swing arm and hub.
I know the hub can be converted for the nc30 just wondered if the swing arm can be fitted to save modifying the hub?
Thanks in advance

There are at least two different 750 swingarms (shock mounting is different) but they are much wider at the pivot point.

Rick oliver does a kit to allow you to fit a 750 wheel using a modified stock axle. This way you can swap between axles and use either wheel.

Any specific reason of fitting a 750 wheel?

Cheers, just something I want to do at some point to allow for the 17"wheel and better tyre choice etc. And have seen a wheel with the swing arm etc for a decent price im going to run with the normal 18"wheel for now but if I decide to do the mod would rather have the bits now than have to find them in the future.
Was hoping the swingarm would be a straight swap though as I could just keep the original parts all original.
So would Rick oliver modify the 750 axle to fit in the nc30 or take the nc30 axle to fit the 750 wheel?

Oh and im a mechanical fitter by trade and have basically never worked on bikes before so cant help wanting to tinker and modify things a little bit. I have bought the swingarm/wheel assy now with a cheeky best offer on ebay. Oops

It will be much too wide.

Easiest option is an NC35 rvf wheel which is 17" and bolts straight on.

With the VFR750 wheel (depending on which one as there is a big wheel and a small wheel) depending on what size tyre you fit you will hit the chain.

http://www.vsource.org/VFR-RVF_files/NC ... rwheel.htm

here is how to modify the nc30 axle to take 750 wheel, you can get plenty of spare axles for nc30 to modify one, then you can swap easy.

even with a 160 tyre youll need a non o-ring chain or a 520 chain / sprockets (possibly non-oring too) or you will get chain rubbing tyre.

BT90 is still made in 18" and is a really good track based tyre.

If you fit the RVF wheel (or anything else) you will have to adjust the dogbone length to correct the ride height too or the back will sit too low, the nc35 dogbone bolts right on and will fix it, or you can make your own, weld up / re drill the stock one.

can be quite involed project.

Easiest is the rvf wheel and dogbone, might cost a bit more but its bolt on and saves lots of time setting things up etc.

I have 2 Vfr 750 wheels and the axle, all modded to fit straight to your bike. In race condition (chips and scratches) but straight and true. £300+postage!
