NC24 engine in my 1988 NC30?
Hi guys,
I'm a pretty new owner of a 1988 NC30
I've bought the bike locally but noticed when riding it home that it runs pretty rough especially top end revs.
I've stripped a few bis off the bike over christmas to find that it has NC24 plugs in
I'm wondering as this is an 88 model whether the really early NC30's had CR8EH plugs in?
It has NC30 coils, HT leads etc. and the HT leads do not push down flush.
I've took the carbs out but I can't find any codes on them?
I'm pretty sure i've bought a bike with a poorly converted NC24 engine and believe that when changing you need to replace, loom, CDI, coils etc. ?
Ideally I would like to know if this infact the case and if so would i be better off swapping out the engine for a NC30 one or changing the components around the NC24 engine (Coil, Loom, ECU etc)?
Any responce would be absolutely brilliant! Even if you're going to tell me i've bought a pup! Id rather have it straight
The engine code is NC13E - 1200 911
Thanks, Ross

Pictures!
Does it have an oil cooler?
what does it sound like? go and youtube the two bikes, they have a different firing order and it is easy to tell.
If I can recall -the clutch or genny cover on a 24 is not smooth - the NC30 has a few strakes on the genny cover and a smooth clutch cover

Hey Ross
The plug in your pic is a Y27FER? Or similar, an 8mm plug? Are the others the same? Or have you a mixed lot?
Racing engines have been known to have the plugs drilled and helicoiled. It may be that one of your threads was knackered and you have a single helicoiled plug?
The leads and caps might just need checking over.

Cheers for the reply mate!!
Yeah they're the denso Y27FER. I've took all 4 out and can confirm that they are all the same. Is it common for these to be tapped to take the older plug? And is it a problem that mine has them in?
Cheers, Ross

Is it a 8 or 10mm plug?

They're 10mm plugs.... I'd ordered some 8mm ones before checking. They're tiny little things!!!

Its not a problem if there 10mm, as mark said some race motors are drilled to take 10mm plugs but the motor i had used CR10EK which were recommended by RLR

Hasn't the block got an engine number on it?
