NC29 Starter Clutch issues
Hey guys, my bikes making a really loud knocking noise. I'm certain it's the starter clutch but I can't remove the main bolt holding the clutch gears in place.
I've tried the Haynes Manual tip, putting it in gear and holding the rear brake on whilst trying to undo it but it won't budge.
Anyone have any hints or tips??

Got a bit of old denim to put in between those two gears?

Re: NC29 Starter Clutch issues
Good idea. But I've waved a white flag, riding the bike (I know I know I shouldn't really but I don't want to trailer it) 500m to the bike garage tomorrow morning to get the front brakes bled properly and the starter clutch looked at. I'm guessing a roller bearing in the clutch has shat itself?
Will update tomorrow afternoon.

Re: NC29 Starter Clutch issues
Bike's been fixed now. Thought I'd update this thread in case someone else has the same issue.
Turns out that the problem was a metal retaining bracket inside the cover that holds some wires in place. It was loose and was smacking against the flywheel...hence when you revved the bike the clunking noise got faster as well.
So before you get all worried about the starter clutch bearings like I did...take off the covers and inspect everything!!
