heh heh.

There you go. I didn't see that in the HRC manual. "Tight arse performance improvements that *really* work". :-)

It was cosmetic. With the shortened front, it looked like someone has punched the bike in the nose. I guess we'll see whether any more crud get on the rads.

... if I stay on the racing line ... or even just stay on the track .. which would help!

I'd just mention you followed the HRC manual rather than being a tight arse...works for me :-)

A quick question, any idea if the 08-09 GSXR 600 shock would be the same as the 06-07 that you got? The spring rate is similar and I think the shock length is too, but haven't been able to find any info about the valving. I'm assuming it would be fairly similar, plus anything would be better than my current RVF shock!!

I am not an expert, but if the spring rate and shock length for the later GSXR shock is similar then I would think it likely they are valved similarly (but I am no expert). The guys at Kroozetune said $230 for a revalve + $170 for a new spring if required. And if you are keeping the stock linkage, you'll need that done.

I'm able to get an 08-09 GSXR shock out of the states for less than $100 delivered, plus I'm ordering one of Rick Oliver's HRC lingages, so hopefully I won't need to spend any more money with revalving etc.

Have you had the guys at Krooztune revalve your forks yet? I got them to do my VFR suspension when I first bought it, massive improvement. When I got my current racebike, the RVF, I thought I try out C&C Engineering, but they're obviously not suspension experts as I unfortunately found out...I should have stuck with what I know!!! I'll be getting my forks revalved by Krooztune before the racing season starts in Feb.

If it is just for cosmetics - then fair enough, but but by cutting it then turning the shortened end to the rear, are you not just going to get a lot more road spray and crud heading towards your new rads?
It's now HRC'd!

But seriously, the hrc manual recommends chopping the back of the guard to improve airflow to the rads, on track there's little crud that gets into the radiators (if you stay on the racing line that is!).

Well you live and learn :worthy:

I've not got Kroozetune to do the forks. The forks have been pretty badly put bad together for a while, and now that I've got them cleaned up with rebound screws properly installed (I hope) and correct oil heights I'll have a go sorting them first. I suspect I may need stronger springs (both forks are 85's - I suspect 90 or 95 is needed - but we'll see).

Thanks for the tip though. I may well still end up taking them there. But if SW Racing is trackside, they do a pretty good job too.

Let's get these radiators mounted properly then. Not so interested in making them beautiful for now, there are larger fish to fry, so my tin-snip engineering 'skills' come out again:

Not pretty, but it fits and things are held firm:

And the lower mount fits too, it didn't fit too well with the GPI upper rad:

Nice work getting the upper radiator to fit, my Chinese rad brackets weren't exactly top notch stuff, very easy to bend!

Are the hoses you're using those Chinese silicon ones? I can't justify spending $160-170 on Samco hoses and was wondering about the Chinese knock-offs.

Yep, I got the hoses from GPI. Pretty cheap, they fit, and I've no complaints so far.

Here is the install/review pic thread:

Just had a thought, you checked fork to rad clearance lock to lock? Mine were close without having to move the rad like you have.
