VFR400 NC24 brakes
I am in the process of stripping down current brakes on my vfr400 NC24 which i am in the process of re-building. The callipers are pretty manky to be honest, seized pins and seals all appear perished. I think I am better off trying to get some new callipers. I could try and source a set of NC24 callipers (probably rarer than rocking horse s###) but I am wondering if any other callipers from similar age Honda's will also fit. Anybody have any experience of performing a calliper swap on an NC24 ?
Cheers Tom

Re: VFR400 NC24 brakes
theres loads of nc21 / 24 calipers about but buying any calipers off bikes this age will benefit from an overhaul.
Since they are only 2 piston calieprs you only need half the amount of seals you would for say an NC30 caliper, also the pistons are plastic so shouldnt be ruined.
If I were you id overhaul yours.
Get new seals for the sliding pin and use proper grease and they should come up really well.

, and in true blue peter style, heres some I did earlier

Re: VFR400 NC24 brakes
Thanks for link that's full of useful info. I may give them an overhaul if I can get the pad pins out!! The naff screw covers are locked in solid and just chew up as soon as I attempt to touch em with a screw driver. They have been soaked in brake cleaner overnight, penetrating fluid used and frequent heating cycles with a blow torch to no avail. Short of drilling them out I am running out of options ....

Can you tell me what happened to the rest of that site where you got the overhaul. None of the other links work. It looks like there could be some usefull information on there...Neosophist wrote:theres loads of nc21 / 24 calipers about but buying any calipers off bikes this age will benefit from an overhaul.
