Does this sound right?
It may just be me, but I really feel like lately, the bike doesn't sound so good. It's fine when it's moving with revs up and all, but when it's cold, low speed, it just...sounds meh....it could just be me but I don't remember my bike sounding so asthmatic.

Thoughts on what it could be?

Start with a general tune up. It sounds to me like the motor is missing. Is it firing on all 4? Change plugs and maybe even clean and balance the carbs. Also check for leaks on the exhaust. It sounds awful raspy as well.

Yup, it runs really well when hot, its just when it's cold or if the carbs are dry that it sounds like crap. I do realise now that my vacuum hose is ancient and has quite a few cracks in it, and my fuel tap doesn't like reserve, it just bogs down. So right now I'm going to change all the hoses and i've ordered a repair kit from rick.
And then I'll do the rest on my break :), I'm taking my time cause I'm learning step by step.

Re: Does this sound right?
Aight, well I changed all the hoses as they were old and cracked, no difference still, valve clearances were still good, sparkplugs were still good. But it was still meh :/
And then I saw there was black soot over my exhaust system where there wasn't supposed to be, turns out, when that chick reversed into my bike over a month ago, she broke the exhaust muffler at the weld, it was literally just hanging on, and it also snapped it near the engine, so I got it tig welded and the bike was happy again. It also holds idle when cold better, but I still need to check the choke when I get time.
Who would've thought leaking exhaust would cause shit running, I honestly didn't think it would affect it that much. There is a metal rattling sound coming from somewhere though, I can't pin it, it's probably the exhaust spring?
