Stripped spark plug hole
Hey guys, i while back i stupidly changed a spark plug when the engine was still warm...
One of the spark plugs will keep spinning if i torque it down but i can tighten it enough so it doesnt pop out when the engine fires up.
I rode around on a track with it and the spark plug didn't blow out,
I plan on getting it fixed soon but i have another trackday coming up. Whats the chances the spark plug will blow out and roughly how much horsepower would i be losing? The header that connects to that spark plug doesn't get as hot as the others which is expected i guess.
Thanks

Not sure but at a guess you would be down about 5 horses, dodgy suggestion but what about wrapping the plug with plumbing tape... I have also seen you can buy liquid thread which may be a good temporary fix but ultimately you need to have it helicoiled or similar

Re: Stripped spark plug hole
I doubt I would want a very hot spark plug being shot out of my engine when I was riding it on a trackday.... My imagination would have it either spearing through the front rad/the tank and spweing hot water or fuel on me or the bike.. or a rear plug shit into the tank/your guts.
get the head helicoiled or fit a new head..

Re: Stripped spark plug hole
thanks guys, i'll be removing the head and getting it helicoiled.
I have a haynes manual and it states i need a peg spanner? Any other way to remove it?
Is there a guide on here for removing the head?
prefer that over the haynes
