dilemma
well things have gone good and then really bad since joining the forum.dads retired from riding so have been given a 2007 cbf1000,newest bike i have ever had
.the same week i have some prat reverse into me while on my nc and break the fairing upper, lights and clocks
.insurance have written the bike off as cat c and offered it back to me for £200 which i have agreed to do.problem is what do i do next?have straightened out the clocks and bought a set of lights with bracket, but what to do with the fairing,do i try and repair and spend loads on paint(mixture of fibre glass and original panels)fit a set of chinese fairings or hold out for a set from another bike?as its written off if i sell it wont be worth much so dont want to waste money or the missis will have my balls.she says i already have to sell my kitcar if i want to keep both bikes so what do you all recommend i do look forward to comments
by the way the cbf is a great bike to ride but not sure if i am ready for that type of bike(young 44 year old)

Re: dilemma
Make £50 and sell it me for £250!
If you want a quick fix some people have gone down the Chinese panels route and have decent results. You will need to have it inspected though wont you if it has been written off. Someone will know for sure.
You can't really sell a bike your dad has given you!! He will be fuming!

Re: dilemma
Rub that thumbprint off your forehead and spend a bit of cash to sort the bike out, keep the CBF and kit car, you only live once mate no point wasting the time you have got...

Re: dilemma
You may find that some insurers will ask for an engineers report if its been declared a CAT C write off, but in a majority of cases, just an MOT will be fine.

Re: dilemma
I just fitted some Chinese fairings, see the bit I wrote about it a couple of weeks ago. The more I look at them, the better they are for about £250.00. If you aren't too fussy about oe bits, they are quite good value.

Re: dilemma
well guys thanks for the input,i have a few problems with the comments though
no1,if i leave the wife then all my toys and the house will be gone just to pay her off and ill be homeless
no2,if i try and bump her off, shes Italian so will end up with concrete legs and be found at the bottom of a lake somewhere
so i have a plan, see what you all think
if i use the insurance money to buy Chinese fairing the left over money i could use to buy a nitron shock for rear as that's all i have not changed on bike plus i am into handling more than looks, then what ever is left put to one side.then if i sell the kitcar and add this money to whats left from the other i might be able to sneak in a rvf 400
as three bikes will only take up the same amount of room as the car.look forward to comments
