My project is almost done (basically just fairings to go), had it dyno tuned today and wow I am happy (hence this post). The guys say they usually get 62 horses on their dyno for a good Nc30 and they have once seen 73 on one that had a race / modified motor... mine ran 67 today :grin: . That was the first run and they half apologised saying they dont believe they are going to improve on it 8-) I know dyno's are not necessarily consistent but basically its the strongest stock 400 they have ever run on their dyno... the bike had a power dip between about 5 and 7500 Rpm and they managed to reduce this by modifying the slider hole size (gained 5 horses over this area) but the overall power remained at the original 67 reading... gonna fetch it tomorrow, I asked them to give her a hug in the meantime ;) I love petrol :twisted:

Just got in from giving the ol girl a good ragging round Bridgenorth...note to self, change tinted visor if out after dusk :whistle:

Wont dyno's in SA usually read low due to the altitude or something? Thats either one hot motor you have there or their dyno is goosed.

Yep, 67 ponies from a standard engine is a bit dubious...

I wouldn't worry about the number though, good news is that the fuelling should be sorted.

Yup, they put a correction factor in for altitude, and as mentioned their usual setup shows 62 horses on a healthy VFR. I asked them if there were no issues with their dyno and they said it was 100%... but either / more importantly for me, its the strongest 400 they have run on their dyno (irrespective of the specific number) so the motor is solid (i.e. they didn't run it and say sh%t its making 49 horses and it needs to be overhauled)

replaced all fairing bolts with dzus fastners, new fuel and vacuum lines, new spark plugs, new air filter and new carby boots

Took the RVF out for a ride around some nice twisty bits. Really need to save for a new shock and a fork rebuild....

Got to get some break fluid so I can bleed the brakes, annoying thing is my exhaust is blowing the collars have rotted off and its just blown through the sealant going to use industrial heat resistant gunk stuff, I know I should really get a set of SS collars made but its the start of university again next week so just need her running right so a oil/filter change is in order so she will run safe until I store her for the winter will do all the proper work in my month off, sort exhaust, braided lines, new pads, clean chain and sprocket.
