How to - Dan Moto Exhaust NC31 - With pics!!
Just bought a New exhaust for my NC31 after the crash I had a few months back. Thought I would take some pics and show how I fitted it and links ect. for those interested in it.
.
Before I start, I DO NOT work for or are affiliated with Dan Moto themselves. One of my neighbours bought a Dan Moto exhaust for his bike and I was impressed by the light weight and construction quality of the muffler so I decided to see if I they had a listing for the CB400. I searched for a part number on their site to fit my bike but they do not list for the super four.
I did some searching on Youtube to see if anyone had fitted one and came across this.

Further googling resulted in finding a forum post (can't remember which forum) by the owner of that bike. it stated that the slip on was for a Suzuki of some kind. So, I bit the bullet and ordered what I hoped to be the correct part.
Here is the link to the shop page for that model of bike.

I chose their carbon GP as it suits my bike.

They only list for the 97-06 models. The only one I am not sure about is the XG-1 they have listed as it appears to have a preset hanger position welded on so if you do buy one buy it at your own risk. I also ordered their dB killer as well. with it in the bike seems to not need any changes to the carbs (I also have a K&N as well so that may play into it.) and its around $9 Aus so really if it needs it you have it and don't have to pay for a 2nd round for shipping.
As per usual safety first with all tools, and wear you PPE. I do not take responsibility for you self injury or injury to others caused by you. I did not bother with the unboxing photos or anything like that. So I'm sorry for those of you that enjoy that kind of thing.
Those with center stands will need to find another way of stopping it from flinging up too far as this removes the bump stop attached to the exhaust. You could weld it back on but I have no need for it as I do not have a center stand.
So, once you get your shiny new exhaust you can start by removing your extractors and lying them down like so.

My poor DIC might look good, but it has a massive dent and scratches all over it from impact with the ground.
Now cut your extractors either in fornt of or right behind the weld line of the collector cone and link pipe. You should end up with this.

Grind away the weld if you cut behind it. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of it, but I'm sure you know how to do this.
Next cut your link pipe just at the larger end of where it flares. Should end up like this.

Now bolt your cut extractors on and slip the link pipe into the muffler. Don't bother with it being straight or the spring clamps just yet. We want to just use if for alignment puropses at the moment. Slip your link pipe onto the end of the extractors and clamp and bolt on the Muffler.

(Tail cowl is non existent due to crash)
Now move the link pipe until there is correct clearance and angle of the muffler.

I left 8-10mm of space between the Spring and Muffler body just to be sure.
Now weld your link pipe on, unbolt the muffler clamp and straighten it, install the holding springs and your done!
I as of yet haven't welded mine on as I got called into work this afternoon (I work in a supermarket....
) and could not be bothered doing it when I got home. But I did throw some ultra strength fabric backed duct tape on it and started it. I did note that the dB killer is less raspy and seemed to rev easier, so I guess the slight restriction it provides is enough to keep it close to the stock tune.
Anyway, hope this is of help to those looking for a new exhaust that isn't a bazillion dollars. All up this exhaust cost me approx. $140 Australian delivered to my door. So for a little bit of work and a lot of satisfaction you can have a shiny new exhaust for relatively cheap.
