might seem a daft question
Ive bought a 1988 fzr400. According to the DVLA etc, it is the RR SP, but im under the impression that the rr sp was only in production on the 1992 above models? And the web only seemed to confirm this. Am I wrong? It certainly feels like it has the longer first gear and close ratio box. Can anybody shed some light? Cheers :D

Re: might seem a daft question
No there were indeed earlier versions of the FZR400 RR SP.
Willandrip has one and has a thread here viewtopic.php?f=37&t=43067
A very low mileage one appeared on ebay about 3 or 4 months ago in the same colours but not with the 750 engine

Re: might seem a daft question
There's the 1987 FZR400R SP - 2TK model code on the CDI. It has twin round headlights, clip ons above the top yoke. Close ratio box, lighter valve train, it formed the basis for the later 3EN bikes.
Have a look for your model http://www.madsi.co.uk/models.aspx

Take no heed of the DVLA muppets regarding year of manufacture.
70% of Fzr 400,s will have incorrect information on the log book.
"Laminator" a member on here has a proper nice one.
http://www.fzrarchives.com/ipb/index.ph ... opic=57822
And also here, with some more Greybike members;

It puts the one I have with the std. engine and panels to shame.
.
But may perhaps be not quite as powerful as the re-powered project;

"FZR400SP" was also doing a build thread but has not been heard of for quite a while,he may have moved on ,lots of pics are no longer available unfortunately;
