cbr600 clocks chnge

I think it was on the old forum, someone had changed their clocks for digital cbr600 clocks. Anyone know who it was and is it hard to do?

Yes, its my bike that has the cbr600rr clockset fitted, it is not a straight forward job but it would be alot easier with an nc35 according to my mate who carried out the wiring as the rvf's electrical system is closer to the cbr's. Yes it is possible but it is a ball ache, looks fantastic though afterall it's a Oe Honda dash. An acewell or a koso would be easier to install. The only thing which hasn't been wired in is the fuel gauge and I still need to try a few different speedo senders as the vfr800 item is under reading.

would it be worth it putting a rr set of clocks on my race bike or is there something that other guys that are racing use? wouldn't mind an oil and water temp gauge.

My mate told me, in theory its a case of getting the cbr6 wiring diagram and the vfr diagram to work out what goes where BUT its not that simple is it?

Your right in saying however its not that simple, the biggest problem that I am aware of in it is trying to get the signal pulse to the clockset right. As both clocksets use different types of pulse, you need to be clever enough to known how to convert the one to the other.

i tryed this about 2 years ago i got the clocks to work by just changing some of the wires round in the conectors but the speedo and rev counter will not give the correct readings without a couple of little black boxes which send the dash the correct signals, i found a company which sells them but it would have cost nearly £200 so what went from a cheep but brilliant mod became very expensave, unfortunatly i cant remember the name of the company as it was a long time ago, i still have the cbr dash and wireing diagrams, but it would be cheeper to buy an aftermarket dash, if you do come up with a cost effetave way of getting the speedo & rev counter to work properly id love to here it.

This is the kind of thing that can be done with a cheap PIC, unfortunately unless you know how to do it (or know some one who can) then it's not easy.

I keep meaning to get into PIC programming because once you can it's just so easy to make something to do this kind of thing (amongst other cool things)!

Thats correct. Shokrabi has fitted a very nice and very useable Koso unit to his bike (cue Piccy Zak )

If even Shokrabi can do it then its got to be easy :D and works well by my understanding.
