TYGA end can interchangeability (big word)

Post by tigerclaw »

When I bought my bike it came with a standard looking (quiet) end can and the seller gave me a tyga maggot as well. The maggot sounds awesome when compared to the standard can (you can hear the engine properly). But I am concerned that the maggot is going to be

A) To loud when riding (not worried about being legal but loud to listen to as the rider and just generally hack my neighbours off)
B) It may make the bike sound a lot faster than it is (I like more sheep in wolves clothing type setups not the other way around)

So... my exhaust system allows me to slip the maggot end can off, but does anyone know:

1) Which other Tyga end cans will just slip on?
2) If so which are good for allowing the engine to be heard properly without being bezerk
3) What other makes of end can will fit / are suggested?

Thanks

Hi,

If the exhaust system allows you to just "slip the Maggot end can off" then you will be able to fit any other Tyga 4-stroke end can in its place.

Personally, I have only used my Maggot can once, and I found that all the drivers of vehicles around me at the traffic lights were upset by the noise. Probably interrupted Robbie Williams on their stereos haha.

I use the short oval stainless steel can myself, it is not "too" loud but it does have a nice metallic ring to it. The longer can would be slightly quieter, and the circular cans even more so since they have more sound absorbing material.

The carbon cans of similar size will be similar noise levels, however carbon gives a more dull sound - not the same ring as stainless.

Depending on what you're after, and the type of riding you do, might influence your decision. I have found Paul at Tyga-Performance to be very friendly and approachable if you have any questions of him. BTW, my bike is a toy that is rarely used for commuting... I'd probably want it quieter if I was using it every day.

Hay Ben,

Thanks very much for the detailed answer, I think ultimately your oval can is going to be the right way to go :)
