Ignition pick up coil - classic sign.
Get a multi-meter and hardwire it into the coil to measure resistance, the connector is under the seat. I used wire and gaffer tape.
Leave the meter in the boot wired up all the time, you can route the cables under the seat - easy job,. When the bike breaks down flick it onto the resistance setting and measure it. If its open circuit its duff. Should measure around 300-500 ohms ( I think ). Mine actually measured 250 ohms when working.
That was what was wrong with mine, when it got too hot it went open circuit when I measured it half an hour later it was fine. So the bike would start ok.

If its fuel cap issue the bike will run longer with an empty tank, if the tank is full it will stop pretty quick as it wont take long for the pump to form a vacuum inside. You can run with the tank open, though be careful.

Under the seat are two plugs sitting in a plastic housing type thing.
On mine it was the brown plug with a yellow and white wire, quite easy to trace when the seat is off as it goes to the left hand side of the engine case and you can see the same cables going into the casing.
If the bike stops you won't have much time to check the resistance, as I found my self. Hardwiring in means as it stops you can check in 10 secs. If its fine and still won't start you can eliminate that problem.
Did you read my link, they were all the things I tried.

well, I found the connector, mines brown with yellow and a white wire too.
apart from the connector is right in the middle under tank.
I'm getting about 428ohms from it.
but im not going to be able to test it after riding cause its to far in.

That's why you need to rig some cables out of the connector, just make sure they don't touch anything when you are riding around.
I removed the seat lifted the seat end of the tank, used a small screwdriver to wedge it up then rigged the wiring up and put everything back. DVM hard wired in the boot.
When the bike dies, measure it as fast as possible. Mine took 5-10 mins to go from open circuit back to normal. Taking the tank off took longer than that hence the extra wiring.
