NC30 horsepower - wheel or engine

Post by tigerclaw » Thu Jul 18, 2013 8:50 pm

The 60 hp that a "healthy" NC30 is supposed to put out, is that on the wheel or the engine (I assume with a chain you dont lose much power getting the power to the wheel.. unlike a car which I understand loses about 25%). I am keen to understand if the dyno graphs I have seen (and numbers everyone talks about on this forum) are wheel horsepower or flywheel power (I assume wheel?) - thanks

It's 59 at the wheel I think.

Depends on how healthy your chain is.I have seen a 12 BHP loss with a knackered chain.

It is wheel - having an engine dyno for punters to use is not practicable.

Mine has been dyno'd several times and no matter what config it was in it delivered 60.9 first time out and then 59.

New engine (to me) now and no idea what that has...

Great - thanks, Hunter that chain must have been a laugh, sure you could have used it as a walking stick when it was off :)

Actually it wasn't stiff,But you could bend it sideways like a boomerang.
