Were any SP NC30s imported to the UK during the grey boom years? I'm guessing they got some of the goodies that the NSR SPs got, mag wheels etc. No dry clutch alas...

So the SP featured is simply a stock NC with kit parts and stripped a little?

prepared for racing. unlike the NSR which came in different models / specs each year to customers, the NC30/35 came as one same as the ones shown in this section

The NC35 isnt really any kind of "imposter", while its true there was an HRC racebike called the RVF400 in 1985 this just shares the name.

The RVF400 (1985) bike went onto become the basis for the road going NC24 (the RVf was vastly superior)

The NC30 was directetly designed from the RC30 hence the name

The RVF400 was directly designe from the RC45 hence the name.

I have a nice flowchart somewhere that was in one of the Honda magazines detailing what was the idea for what. Honda use the term "direct brother" or something similar, the actual word escapes me.

In regards to the above video, the VFR400 SP you mention from the video wasnt sold as a bike but its a stock VFR with kit parts.

The guy in the video says the air filter is taken away and the exhaust is changed too and the bike makes 76hp, same power as the proper works NSR 3 years before.

Interesting what they say about the bike too, to sum up, the feeling from the front is a little crappy and if they could sort that out their laptimes would be better (later VFRs had much better forks!)

Opening and closing the throttle can be a little slow and rough.
