Starter/main fuse connector melted

Post by lutorm »

So I'm cleaning up the wiring and giving everything a good look over and after having to work a bit to get the connector to the main fuse / starter relay off it was clear why: the plastic on the fuse was melted into a little ball and the connector didn't look much better on the inside. I assume this was from poor contact in the connector or the fuse holder. Luckily it seems the fuse holder assembly is available and not too bad at $20. However, the connector on the main loom seems like a harder case. I just got a bunch of those Sumitomo connectors from cycleterminal.com, but since this includes the fuse cover it must be a super special part. Anyone have a source for them?

Thanks,

/Patrik

The red solenoid plug you mention is extremely rare.

Rick Oliver has a replacement solenoid and plug which is much more common than the Honda red plug :peace:

Well, upon closer inspection it seems the problems aren't limited to that connector. If you enjoy looking at distressed connectors, check out this post. I think that instead of replacing this and having it go bad again, I'm going to completely upgrade the supply wiring...
