Rear wheel won't come off
Hi
Got a little problem with my nc35. It's got a trick Dymag rear wheel. Need to change the rear tyre. Centre nut is off but the rim seems to be stuck on the hub.
It's my first time taking it off. The Haynes manual says the wheel just comes off after taking the nut off :)
Any advice?
Have tried hitting the tyre with a hammer, no luck.
Now sprayed some thin oil where the rim sits on the hub and letting it penetrate.
Any other suggestions?
Kind regards
Martin

Re: Rear wheel won't come off
it will come off, let the spray soak in for a bit then use a piece of wood on the edge of the rim and a big hammer. keep spinning the wheel working your way round.

Re: Rear wheel won't come off
My advice on this one would to be remove the hub with wheel attached so you can knock the hub side to side gently as i wouldnt want to risk fracturing the dymag, its hard and light which in turn makes it VERY BRITTLE.
Undo the 46mm hub nut, undo 17mm hub pinch bolt, remove sprocket carier and drop off chain, remove rear brake caliper and the assembly should pull out,
Place the wheel face down on the grass to prevent scratches etc and using a mallet, nylon hammer etc hit the axel at different angles to loosen it, its a long way round but this would be the safer bet for a magnesium wheel.
Im sure others would also agree.
Rick
Edit: Axels is the magic word, sorry

Re: Rear wheel won't come off
Is there not a circlip on the wheel side that will prevent the hub coming out??
Lots of penetrating oil and that shite...and perhaps...a teeny little bosh on the tyre edges to get it to move..

Re: Rear wheel won't come off
Sorry, I missed the bit about the dymag wheel, thought it was a standard rim. You should be able to get it off without removing the hub if you take your time but if no luck then you have no choice.
