Time to start thinking on tyre choice for this project.
Front wheel is std 1WG Genesis=110/70/17 recommended tyre size.
Rear is Fzr 1000 5.5"=170/60/17 recommended tyre size.
At present its fitted with a 190 rear (to be scrapped along with front) .
I am considering a 120/70 front which will fit the rim with a 160/60 rear to try to retain some of the sharp handling.
Problem is ;Will a 160/60 inflate on a 5.5" rim designed for a 170 tyre ?
Diablo Super Corsa's are readily available in these sizes which will influenced decision.
Any opinions welcomed.

Personally I'd go with 120/70 and 180/55 just because there are more tyres available in those sizes (cheap scrubs are a bonus!) I'd maybe think about taking the Foxeye front end out of the Genesis and sticking it in the 750 to get a 3.5" front wheel and keep the wheel sizes contemporary too, not to mention fatter stanchions and stiffer springs.willandrip wrote:Time to start thinking on tyre choice for this project.

Could go that way Kayla; but it means "robbing peter to pay paul" and the Genesis is sorted anyhow. :
The 180/55 option will be slow steering with this chassis even if the tyres are cheap.
I can get scrubs in the intended sizes economically.
Will the rear inflate though. ?

If you look for a 5" rear wheel the 160 tyre will fit properly. There's lot of those yamaha wheels around

Yes,Trx 850 unit seems readily available in the £40 ish price bracket,which is acceptable.
Perhaps Kayla has fitted one to fzr 1000 swinger previously ?

TRX FZR600R, Fazer 600 maybe the thundercat ... I think Kayla's used the TRX swinger in a 1wg frame but as you already have that one it should be OK fit the wheel. You'll need some lining up and some spacers though

We haven't put a TRX wheel into an EXUP arm yet but it should be easy because the spindles are the same size (20mm). The discs are the same too so it should only be an afternoon's messing about to get it sorted.
The TRX, Foxeye, original Fazer 600 and Thundercat all use the same rear wheel and there are loads of them about. We've got three or four of them here if you want one.

However you have to bear in mind that in doing so will reduce the profile.

Cheers Wraith,concensus seems to favour a 5" wheel swap.
Small amount done after work;

I changed plans from using Zxr remote reservoir units to this from a Fazer and will retain the fitted Yzf clutch master cylinder; frankly I could not be arsed to start fabbing up reservoir mount brackets.
The footrests got a quick clean and grease, replaced the bent brake pedal and worn gear change rubber.
Retained the somewhat worn footrest rubbers as they are still serviceable.
Cheap braided hoses for clutch.
Levers stripped, greased and crash damage polished out.

99p ebay front mudguard cleaned up nicely;there was not a lot wrong with the original though.

Rad is in very good condition,quick coat of satin black on the mesh guard and its ready to refit.

A few parts were delivered this week.
Quick release fuel coupling (no fuel tap fitted to tank)
Stainless nuts for headers.
Header studs to replace incorrect bolts.
Locking ring for rear brake reservoir.(another 99p ebay item.)
