valve clearances for tough starting?
i have an nc30 which i have rebuilt the motor is 2nd hand and dont really know the mileage etc. anyways i've had the thing started a few times but its now starting to become a pain to start I have gone over the carbs a million times the cam timing but the only thing i havent done is the valve clearances.
does anyone else think this will help as it recently worked with an xr250 that was struggling to start after my mate rebuilt it.

Re: valve clearances for tough starting?
it could be,you are as well doing them and see if it makes any difference.
when you check the clearances you will get a good idea if its possibly the cause if they are well out or not.
last year my nc30 valve clearances were well out and i found no problems with it starting previous to this.
are you giving the bike plenty choke and no throttle?is fuel getting to the carbs?
check all relevant hoses etc,any kinks?also check the plugs, and kill switch!

Re: valve clearances for tough starting?
Your post says that you "rebuilt the engine" anywyas. Surely you did the valve clearance then?
I would be looking to try new plugs as they can die fairly easily and make it a git to start

I'm with cmsmj1 on this one.
Do you start it with full choke and no throttle from cold?

im with the notion of new plugs & full choke no throttle.
Have you got the airbox on properly / messed with the pilot screws?
