(Possible) 1WG headers from Motad

Post by Kayla850 »

I sent Motad an email asking if they'd consider making replacement headers for the 1WGs. They'd be straight through with no EXUP. The EXUP is not an option so please don't ask if you can have a one-off YEC works copy in unobtanium with a magnesium EXUP cover for the same price as one of a batch of stainless steel headers. I know this isn't the Honda bit but I had to try and make that clear up front

So, the reply I had from Motad was this-

"We would certainly be interested in looking at this

Pipework is far more involved than producing silencers so we would need to test and develop on a running bike.
A rolling chassis and an original system will give us a start- but we will need a bike to complete the project.

The time involved is significant- and we will need to sell (probably ) 12-15 sets just to cover the development time . We are ready to do this but will need some others to show interest first

I would be very happy for you to (perhaps) post on relevent forums to see if others are interested and ready to buy- please mention this conversation and perhaps pass my email on so that interested riders can let me know

So, there you go. It's over to you, 1WG owners. I'm supplying the bike and having a couple of sets if they go ahead and make some. The price will probably be around £260 ex. VAT for a set of headers but they're made (and more importantly, tested) in the UK. Send the fella an email if you're interested please.

Nice work Kayla, and they'll probably be good quality too.

I welded mine up with car exhaust, it was only the middle two that rusted so was nice an easy. I'm really surprised by that reply tho, nice and encoraging (dont think thats spelt right). Good work.

I rang a month or so ago and babbled down the phone at them and got a polite PFO. I thought I'd chase it up with a more coherent email
